Market fire destroys 14 stalls in Isabel, Leyte

Two women died while seven others were wounded after a house was hit by a wing van on Sunday, Jan. 1.

ORMOC CITY — At least 14 stalls at the public market of Isabel town, Leyte, were destroyed by a fire at around 11:40 p.m. on Monday, January 9.

According to SFO2 Eusimiel Galos, most stalls sold plastic wares and other dry goods and commodities.

Based on their investigation, Gals said the fire started at the water refilling station owned by a certain Tiny Barbosa.

Galos said the fire was controlled at about 12:45 a.m. and was put out at about 2:10 a.m. on Tuesday.

No one was injured.

Fire investigators pegged damage at P1.5 million.
