Gale warning up over PH’s eastern seaboard, says Pagasa

Pagasa warns of strong to gale-force winds associated with the northeast monsoon along the country's eastern seaboard.

DAVAO CITY — The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical, Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned Tuesday of strong to gale-force winds associated with the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, along the country’s eastern seaboard.

In its 5 a.m. weather bulletin, Pagasa enumerated that the affected areas are the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora along the eastern seaboard of Northern and Central Luzon; Northern Quezon particularly General Nakar and the northern and eastern coasts of Polillo Islands that included the northern coast of Panukulan, Burdeos the eastern coast of Palnanungan and Jomalig; Camarines Norte, the northern coast of Camarines del Sur; the northern and eastern coast of Catanduanes; the eastern coast of Albay and the eastern coast of Sorsogon all along the eastern seaboard of Southern Luzon;

Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, the eastern coast of Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, the eastern coast of Surigao del Norte, including Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands along the eastern seaboard of Visayas and Mindanao.

Sea condition is expected to be rough to very rough, the state weather bureau stressed.

Pagasa advised fishing boats and other small sea crafts not to venture out to sea and cautioned large vessels against waves as big as 2.8 to 4 meters in height.  Germelina Lacorte, Inquirer Mindanao
