Magnitude 4.8 earthquake strikes off Surigao del Norte
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.8 earthquake jolted the waters near the province of Surigao del Norte, specifically the municipality of Burgos, on Tuesday evening, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The epicenter of the quake was located 37 kilometers northeast of Burgos, Surigao del Norte, said Phivolcs.
It was tectonic in origin and was recorded at exactly 7:043 p.m. with a depth of focus of 18 kilometers.
Intensity II was felt in Palo, Leyte.

Phivolcs said no damage and aftershocks should be expected by the public.
