MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) outside of the country is not expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), nor is it seen to intensify into a tropical storm, the state weather bureau said in its Monday afternoon update.
Reports from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) showed that the LPA was last seen 410 kilometers east southeast of Mindanao or above the northeastern part of Indonesia.
However, despite the LPA staying outside the PAR, its trough still affects the eastern portions of Visayas and Mindanao, where cloudy skies and rains would be felt from Monday to Tuesday.
The LPA is expected to move east, just below the PAR line.
Meanwhile, residents of Luzon, particularly in northern provinces, would still experience colder-than-usual weather due to the northeast monsoon or amihan, which will also cause cloudy skies and occasional rains.
Temperatures for Tuesday over Laoag would go down to 23 to 30 degrees Celsius, while Tuguegarao would have something between 21 to 25 degrees. It would still be cold in Baguio and Tagaytay, with 17 to 24 degrees and 19 to 29 degrees, respectively.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila would have temperatures of 23 to 31 degrees Celsius, Legazpi with 24 to 30 degrees, and Puerto Princesa with 24 to 31 degrees.
For Visayas and Mindanao, the eastern portions are expected to have lower temperatures partly due to the rains from the trough. Tacloban would have temperatures of 24 to 29 degrees Celsius; Cebu with 24 to 30 degrees; Cagayan de Oro with 25 to 29 degrees; Davao and Iloilo with 25 to 30 degrees; while Zamboanga would be warmer at 23 to 32 degrees.
A gale warning remains raised over the shorelines of the Ilocos Region and Cagayan Valley, plus the province of Aurora, the northern parts of Quezon province, Camarines Norte, northern waters of Camarines Sur, and the northern and eastern seas of Catanduanes.
Fisherfolk and small boat operators are currently not allowed to sail in these areas as sea conditions range from rough to very rough.
