23 firecracker-related injuries reported in Cagayan Valley

DOH counts on heavy rain in Calabarzon to deter firecracker use

TUGUEGARAO CITY – Twenty three firecracker and fireworks – related injuries were reported and recorded, so far,  in Cagayan Valley this year, according to Department of Health’s regional office.

The figure is 32 percent lower than the 34 recorded cases over the same period last year.

Twenty of the injured individuals this year are men and three women.

The cumulative data showed that ten victims sustained eye injuries due to “boga” (improvised cannon) and “kwitis.”

Eleven of the injuries were reported in Cagayan, seven in Isabela, three in Nueva Vizcaya and two in Quirino.
