Pagasa: Cloudy New Year’s Eve with a chance of rain
MANILA, Philippines — It will be a cloudy New Year’s Eve with rain showers due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan”, as well as the shear line, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
“Maulap na kalangitan at mga pag-ulan pa rin ang mararanasan dito sa may silangang bahagi ng Luzon, partikular na yan sa Bicol region at Quezon na dulot ng shear line, at sa bahagi din ng Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga at Aurora na dulot naman ng northeast monsoon,” said Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda.
(Cloudy skies and rain will prevail in the southern part of Luzon, particularly Bicol region and Quezon because of the shear line, as well as in the parts of the Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga and Aurora due to the northeast monsoon).
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers, said state meteorologists.
Rough seas alert!
Pagasa has raised a gale warning over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, northern coast of Quezon (General Nakar) including the northern and eastern coasts of Polillo Islands (northern coast of Panukulan, Burdeos, eastern coast of Patnanungan, and Jomalig), Batanes, northern coast of Cagayan, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan.
