2 men busted in Cavite for illegal firecrackers

LUCENA CITY – Operatives from the Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested on Thursday two individuals selling illegal firecrackers and seized P38,000 worth of contraband in an entrapment operation in Bacoor City, Cavite.

The Calabarzon police said CIDG agents nabbed Eduardo Regala Jr. and Renier Renz Vera after they sold banned firecrackers to an undercover agent poseur in Barangay Salinas 2 at around 11:40 a.m.

The operatives confiscated the following: two units of “sawa” with 10,000 rounds each; one unit of “sawa” with 5,000 rounds; three reams of “plapla”; 10 giant whistle bombs; five reams of “5 Star” and three cubes of “King Kong 7.”

Authorities also confiscated a car believed to have been used by the suspects in their illegal trade.

Regala and Vera were detained and will face a formal complaint for violating Republic Act 7183, which regulates the use of firecrackers.
