Motorbike rider dies in Batangas crash
LUCENA CITY – A 30-year-old motorcycle rider died after his vehicle collided with a van in Lemery, Batangas Monday night.
The Region 4A police on Tuesday reported that Patrick Dapula was driving his motorcycle when he veered to the opposite lane and collided with an oncoming L300 utility van driven by Efraim Evangelista in Barangay Malinis around 7:50 p.m.
Dapula sustained serious injuries and was taken to Batangas Provincial Hospital and eventually transferred to another hospital where he expired while undergoing treatment.
The report did not say whether or not the victim was wearing a crash helmet for protection as mandated under the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.
The police said the concerned parties were open to an amicable settlement.
