Two men killed in stabbings

Two men died in separate stabbing incidents in southern cities of Cebu.

Police identified the fatalities as Jovie Uy, 29 and Jay-r Saldana, 27.

Police said Uy had several stab wounds when he was found slumped in front of the house of Carmelita Mercadier in barangay Lawaan 2, Talisay City past midnight yesterday.

Uy was earlier seen playing a card game with Jesus Macabus, Eddie Halang and Larry Tacharo, Jr. in front of Mercadier’s house.

Police said Uy and Macabus argued while they were playing but it was unclear yet if it was Macabus who stabbed the victim.  No arrest had been made yet, said police.

Uy was taken to the Talisay District Hospital where he was declared dead by attending doctors.

In barangay Tuyan, Naga City, Saldana was stabbed in the neck and back by Esrom Lapay after they argued while drinking past 11 p.m. last Saturday.
