Baguio City chills at 12.2°C on Christmas morning

MANILA, Philippines — Temperatures dropped in many parts of the country on Christmas morning, according to the state weather bureau, with Baguio City posting the lowest at 12.2°C.

Based on the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical (Pagasa)’s 8 a.m. bulletin, weather conditions were also chilly in Basco, Batanes at 13.2°C.

According to Pagasa, the northeast monsoon – locally termed amihan – is bringing cool winds into the country.

The northeast monsoon is described as the cool and dry wind coming from Siberia and China that blows down to Southeast Asia, which includes the Philippines.
