PCG monitors over 48,600 outbound passengers a day before Christmas

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said it monitored 48,636 outbound passengers and 47,000 inbound passengers in all ports nationwide on Saturday, the day before Christmas.

According to the PCG in an advisory, the said passengers were inspected from a total of 331 vessels and 535 motor bancas.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,054 PCG frontline personnel were deployed in all ports.

The PCG said that it has already placed its districts, stations, and sub-stations on “heightened alert” to address the influx of passengers amid the holidays from Dec. 15 to Jan. 7, 2023.

It then encouraged the public to coordinate with the PCG through its official Facebook page or the Coast Guard Public Affairs (0927-560-7729) regarding sea travel protocols and regulations during the Yuletide Season.
