SC suspends Friday afternoon work to let workers enjoy long Christmas weekend

MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court (SC) suspended afternoon work on Friday, December 23, to allow court personnel to enjoy the long Christmas weekend.
In Memorandum Order No. 178, the SC said it suspended all court activities from noon onwards to “provide court personnel, parties, and litigants the necessary time and opportunity to attend to personal engagements for the season.”
It clarified, however, that the suspension of work will not apply to court personnel who need to process bail, orders of release, or other writs of liberty.
Also not included are those that need to serve protection orders within the day or those attending to other urgent matters at the discretion of judges and Justices concerned.
“Spend time with your family members and loved ones, and come back with renewed vigor to dispense justice toward those who need it most,” the SC memorandum reads.

This Christmas weekend will be extended since President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday declared December 26, which falls on a Monday, as a special non-working day.
