Pagasa weather specialist Patrick del Mundo told INQUIRER in a phone interview that the northeast monsoon, which is locally known as amihan, may have a surge of winds beginning this week. Thus, he noted, temperatures may even get colder than predicted.

The northeast monsoon is described as the cool and dry wind coming from Siberia and China that blows down to Southeast Asia, which includes the Philippines.
