MANILA, Philippines — The Northern Police District (NPD) on Monday seized over P205.5 million worth of fake products in Navotas. Of the total estimated value, P5.5 million was in fake power tools.
According to its report, the NPD received information that Credibility Logistics Co.Ltd., owned and managed by an individual named Hong Xiao Bao, was engaged in unfair competition as defined in Section 168 of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines by counterfeiting products under the brand name Makita.
The District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) of the NPD then conducted surveillance, verification, and a test buy after which it applied for a search warrant. It was granted by Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 90.
DSOU personnel implemented the search warrant at 9 a.m. on Monday at a warehouse on Simeon De Jesus Street in San Rafael Village, Navotas.
They confiscated the following power tools:
- 700 impact drills
- 300 welding machines
- 24 impact hammer drills
They also found other products believed to be counterfeit.
After further investigation, the police found out that Credibility Logistics did not have a business permit, according to the Business Permit and Licensing Office of Navotas and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
