‘Smuggled’ galunggong, onions seized in Subic port

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — Another shipment carrying alleged smuggled agricultural products was intercepted Thursday in this port.

Personnel from the Bureau of Customs Port of Subic and the Department of Agriculture, seized an undetermined amount of smuggled blue mackerel scad or galunggong and red onions.

Last week, at least P20.19 million worth of fresh onions and frozen carrots allegedly smuggled from China were intercepted in this freeport.

The smuggled carrots were declared as assorted food items consigned to Veneta Consumer Goods Trading, while the fresh red and white onions consigned to Lalavy Aggregates Trading were declared as frozen lobster balls and crab sticks. INQ
