MANILA, Philippines — A 26-year-old suspect was arrested for alleged kidnapping of three minors after bystanders reported him to police in Quezon City, authorities said on Wednesday.
The suspect was identified as Prince Bulawan, according to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).
Reports said Bulawan met the victims, aged nine, 12 and 13, on the streets of San Beda Libis, Barangay Bahay Toro on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities said Bulawan promised his victims that he would treat them to a fast food chain and give them clothes.
“They walked along the stretch of Congressional Ave. and Visayas Ave. until they reached Tandang Sora. He even flagged down a taxi but was refused by the driver.
“Subsequently, the bystanders noticed the suspect acting suspiciously, hence, they sought assistance to a patrolling officer and BPSO’s (barangay public safety officers) nearby who immediately responded and negotiate with the suspect, however, he became unruly but eventually managed to arrest and rescued the minors,” the QCPD said in a statement.
The suspect is now under the custody of the Talipapa Police Station and will be charged with kidnapping and R.A. 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, according to QCPD.
It can be recalled that in September, there was also an attempted abduction in Novaliches, Quezon City, but it was foiled by the police.
