IT’S not only barangay captains but even Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK) allies and some sectoral representatives that supported his House bid, former Cebu City south district legislator Antonio Cuenco said yesterday.
“They preferred me as congressman and Rep. Tomas Osmeña as mayor,” he said.
About 108 persons signed a manifesto of support for Cuenco that was passed around the different barangays since January.
Signatories of the one-page manifesto include 25 barangay captains, Councilors Jose Daluz III and Ronald Cuenco and former councilor and BO-PK ally Gerardo Carillo, sitio and chapel leaders, vendors and tanods.
Cuenco said there’s no provision in the manifesto which mentioned that it was intended for Rep. Osmeña, who earlier claimed that the manifesto was passed for his “personal consumption.”
Osmeña said he would no longer accommodate Cuenco in BO-PK due to his policies against the South Road Properties (SRP).
“They (signatories) did not say that the manifesto was intended for Tomas,” Cuenco said.
Cuenco said the manifesto disproves claims of dwindling support on his candidacy.
He said he agrees with Rep. Osmeña’s claim that no one is unbeatable in politics.
Cuenco also said he won’t make further comments on attacks by critics for the duration of the Holy Week. Chief of Reporters Doris C. Bongcac
