FARMER KILLED IN TUBURAN

A 52-YEAR-OLD farmer died after he was hit by a motorcycle in  Tuburan town, northern Cebu,  on Friday.

Mario Glensis was crossing the corner of Burgos and Tabotabo Streets when he was hit by a motorcycle driven by Ronald Dela Cruz, 20, of  Tabogon town.

Police said  the farmer may have failed to see the oncoming motorcycle because of a  bus which had stopped at the side of the road.

P100T WORTH OF CROCS STOLEN

A STORE selling Crocs sandals was burglarized in brangay Bakilid, Mandaue City.

The store had a security guard but Godwin Enolpe, 51, of Archangel Investigative and Security Agency, said he didn’t notice anyone enter the store.

Enolpe told police that it was past 6 a.m. yesterday when he discovered that the padlock of the store’s roll-up door  was destroyed.

Francis Benedict Cutingco, a representative of the store, said 110 pairs of Crocs sandals worth close to P100,000 were stolen.

GUARD SHOOTS 2 BOYS

TWO boys were wounded when a security guard shot them in barangay Pakna-an, Mandaue City at dawn yesterday.

The boys, aged 16 and 17, sustained minor injuries in the knee and hand.

The guard, Ananias Revilleza, 42, of JMJ Habagat Security Agency, was arrested after the shooting.

The guard  said he saw the two boys climb the fence of Detalia Aurora Inc. at 2:45 a.m. yesterday.

The guard said he fired two shots at the boys when he saw them taking scrap metal.

The two were treated at the Mandaue City Hospital

The guard surrendered his  service firearm, a .38 caliber revolver with two empty shells, to the Basak police./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA

TANOD ACCUSED OF RAPING GIRL

A BARANGAY tanod was arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl in barangay Umapad, Mandaue City.

Police said the suspect and the victim were distant relatives.

The girl  complained that she was raped thrice, with the last attack happening on Friday.

The girl said the tanod would  invite her to his house and give her P100  after raping her.

The girl’s sister-in-law told police that she noticed that the girl was uneasy last Friday afternoon.

When she asked the girl what was bothering her, the the girl confided to her what the tanod was doing.

The crime was immediately reported to police.

The tanod was not at home when police arrived but was later arrested in a relative’s house in Lapu-Lapu City./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA

MAN STABBED BY YOUNGSTERS

A 30-YEAR-OLD man was stabbed and robbed by group of youngsters in barangay Poblacion, Toledo City, southwest Cebu.

Archie Adlawan was wounded in the chest.

He and his girlfriend were walking on the road around 9 p.m. last Friday when a group of minors  attacked him.  When the man slumped on the ground, the youths took his Itouch device worth P50,000 and fled.
