40 passengers stranded in Bicol ports

LEGAZPI CITY — More than 40 passengers were stranded in Albay ports after the Philippine Coast Guard suspended sea trips on Saturday, December 10, due to Tropical Depression “Rosal.”

Gremil Alexis Naz, the spokesperson of the Office of Civil Defense Bicol, said as of 4 p.m., 33 passengers in Tabaco City port were stranded and ten others at the Legazpi City port in the said province.

Naz said eight rolling cargoes and eight sea vessels were also stranded in Albay and Catanduanes ports.

In its 4 p.m. advisory, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said at 3 p.m., the center of Tropical Depression Rosal was 295 km east of Infanta, Quezon with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness up to 55 kph.

Pagasa said Rosal was moving north-northwestward at 15 kph.
