Albay towns suspend classes due to LPA

LEGAZPI CITY — Several towns in Albay province have suspended classes on Friday due to continuous rains brought by a low-pressure area (LPA) and the shear line, or the tail end of a cold front.
Daraga Mayor Carlwyn Baldo said he suspended all classes at all levels in public and private schools in anticipation of risks posed by the incessant rains.
Mayor Carlos Irwin Baldo of Camalig town also announced the suspension of all blended classes in response to the looming weather disturbance.
He advised village officials to prepare and prohibit activities near or along high-risk areas and implement the contingency plans in their areas.
In Guinobatan town, Mayor Paul Chino Garcia ordered the early dismissal of classes at all levels.
At 3 a.m., Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA was last spotted 610 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur and expected to move toward west-northwest in the next 24 hours.
Pagasa said the LPA may intensify into a storm by Saturday and locally named “Rosal.” INQ
