MANILA, Philippines — Secretary Renato Solidum’s ad interim appointment at the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has cruised the Commission on Appointments (CA0 and will now be sent to the plenary for confirmation.
At the CA’s hearing, Camarines Sur 2nd District Rep. LRay Villafuerte moved to approve Solidum’s appointment at the committee level. The motion was then seconded, winning the approval from the committee chairperson and Caloocan 1st District Rep. Oscar Malapitan.
Solidum’s appointment was initially bypassed by the CA last September after Congress attended to important legislative matters. This led President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to reappoint Solidum along with 13 other appointees who the CA similarly bypassed.
