NGCP: Luzon grid on yellow alert due to forced outage, derated capacity

MANILA, Philippines — Due to forced outages and derated capacities of several power plants, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) placed the Luzon grid under yellow alert on Tuesday.

The NGCP said that the Luzon grid would be under yellow alert from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., as the available capacity is at 11,522 megawatts (MW).

The peak demand is at 10,612 MW, the NGCP said in its advisory.

“Four plants are on forced outage, while three others are running on derated capacities, for a total of 2,145 MW unavailable to the grid,” it explained.
