MANILA, Philippines – The Luzon grid was placed under yellow alert on Monday due to forced outages and derated capacities of several power plants, said the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

In an advisory, the NGCP said the Luzon grid would be under yellow alert from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., as available capacity stands at 11,572 megawatts (MW).

The peak demand, it noted, is at 10,548 MW.

A yellow alert means power reserves are insufficient to cover the largest running generating unit at the time, according to the NGCP.
