Ang Tibay Mo claims second win in Power 40

ANG Tibay Mo bagged its second straight win in the Power Forty Ball Club-2012 summer basketball tournament after stunning Alfa Electrical, 85-81, Tuesday night at the Emilio Jaca Memorial Gym in barangay Inayawan, Cebu City.

Ang Tibay Mo led by a single-digit in the first two periods but sizzled in the third where it posted its biggest lead of 16 points, 71-55, heading to the final canto.

Alfa Electrical managed to outscore Ang Tibay Mo in the fourth quarter, 26-14 but ran out of time to snatch the win as the latter came through with the four-point victory.

Jun Sumargo led Ang Tibay Mo’s attack with 21 points while Rey Mabalcon and Ed Nacario combined for 27 markers. Allan Dela Rama and Mac-Mac Navares paced Alfa ith 26 and 21 points, respectively.

In the other game, Jenjic Commando barged into the win column after shocking the taller Allyn & Sons, Nelly Cabase, 95-91, to improve its record to 1-1.

The Commandos led, 25-19 in the opening period but Allyn & Sons responded with a blistering 19-9 run in the second to erect a 4-point lead, 38-34, at the half.

However, the Commandos outscored Allyn & Sons, 61-53 at the bend to snatch the crucial win.
