Indian national survives slay try in Quezon province

LUCENA CITY — An Indian national survived an assassination attempt on Wednesday, Nov. 30, in Gumaca town in Quezon province.

The Quezon police report identified the victim as Varinder Sekhon Singh, 32, of Gumaca’s Barangay Villa Nava.

Investigators said Singh was inside his parked vehicle in Barangay Mabini when an unidentified man, armed with a handgun, repeatedly shot him around 6:30 p.m.

The gunman fled after the shooting, while Singh suffered multiple bullet wounds in different parts of the body.

Rescuers rushed Singh to a hospital for treatment.

An investigation was underway to identify the assailant and establish the motive behind the incident.

The police also launched an operation to arrest the gunman. INQ
