MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila’s COVID-19 positivity rate increased from 7.5% to 11.1% within seven days, according to an independent pandemic monitor.
Octa Research Group’s Dr. Guido David said the positivity rate in the country’s capital region jumped to 11.1% as of November 26. It was 7.5% as of November 19.
Also, Guido noted that positivity rates swelled similarly in other Luzon areas.
“Positivity rates in Luzon as of Nov 26 vs Nov 19. Rising positivity rates in NCR (from 7.5% to 11.1%), Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Kalinga, Pangasinan,” he said in a Twitter post on Sunday, November 27.

Based on Octa Research’s monitoring, positivity rates from November 19-26 in the following areas are:
- Benguet – 24.7% to 27%
- Bulacan – 5.6% to 7.6%
- Cagayan – 14.4% to 18.2%
- Ilocos Norte – 4.7% to 7.8%
- Ilocos Sur – 21.7% to 32.9%
- Kalinga – 15.9% to 23.7%
- La Union – 20.7% to 22%
- Pangasinan – 13.2% to 16.5%
On November 27, the Department of Health’s COVID-19 tracker showed that the number of active cases in the country stood at 18,482 – including the 5,178 active infections in Metro Manila.
