South Korea extends $7 million to PNP
South Korea will allocate $7 million in the next five years to boost the Philippine National Police’s investigation data management. The project, to be implemented through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica) from 2023 to 2028, will allow the PNP to use technology in order to be more efficient in “preparing data-based countermeasures against crimes, secure consistency and integrity of crime data and establish human rights-based policies for crime investigation,” the Korean embassy in Manila said. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr., chief of the PNP, welcomed Koica’s technical delegation led by Korean National Police Agency Assistant Director Shon Jeong-mee at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame last week for the new partnership. South Korea also plans to provide technical assistance to implement the PNP’s digital efforts to enhance the national police clearance system and consult with the PNP for future capacity-building workshops in multiple fields, the embassy said.
