MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is planning to turn the Port of Davao into one of the logistics hubs or alternative centers for trade in Southeast Asia.
BOC Port of Davao District Collector Erastus Austria made the announcement during a visit by Singaporean Ambassador to the Philippines Gerard Ho, the BOC said in a statement.
Austria said the plan is in line with the National Economic and Development Authority – Region XI’s (NEDA XI) proposed plan to update the Davao Gulf Development Plan (DGDP) of 2013.
“The 2013 proposal seeks to advance the Davao Region as a ‘rising global frontier.’ It outlines how agencies can work together to realize it under President Ferdinand Marcos [Jr.]’s 8-point economic plan,” the BOC statement read.
Austria then vowed to continue to collaborate with other agencies that focus on trade facilitation, which can help boost economic development in the Davao Region and improve its revenue collection performance.
