1 dead, 5 hurt in tricycle-van collision in Quezon
LUCENA CITY – A 70-year-old passenger died and five others were injured after the tricycle they were on was hit by a wayward van along the Maharlika Highway in Gumaca town, Quezon province on Friday, November 25.
Gumaca police, in a report on Saturday, said the tricycle being driven by Jose Amolar with five passengers onboard was hit by a van driven by Jeremie Masayon while on the highway in Barangay (village) Villa Padua around 3:30 p.m.
Amolar and his passengers sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital in the town center, but passenger Victorino Calvelo died on the way.
The police report said Masayon lost control of the van, occupied the opposite lane, and consequently hit the oncoming tricycle.
