TACLOBAN CITY – Four persons were rescued after their motorized banca capsized off Palompon town in Leyte on Thursday, Nov. 24.
Reports reaching the regional headquarters of the Philippine National Police (PNP), based in Palo, Leyte, said the four were on their way to Masbate from Camotes Island, Cebu when the seacraft capsized due to strong winds and heavy rains at around 2 a.m.
The rescued passengers were identified as Jayson Napoles, 25; Robert Sangotan, 25; Jocyl Lape, 47; and Herry Taladro, 42. All were from Claveria town, Masbate.
Based on the report by the local police of Palompon, Napoles was able to swim and report the incident to the local police.
The local police, assisted by the Palompon emergency rescue team, proceeded to the area where the remaining passengers held on the capsized motorized banca.
