LUCENA CITY – The number of active COVID-19 cases in Quezon province to dropped from 112 to 49 on Wednesday.
According to the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), Lucena City, the province’s capital, had the most number of active cases with 11.
The latest data showed that 21 of the 41 municipalities in the province no longer have any recorded COVID-19 cases.
Those previously infected in the localities have either recovered or died, the IPHO report showed.
Quezon has so far recorded 183 new COVID-19 cases this month. It recorded 398 cases last month and 334 in September.
The local and provincial health centers have been conducting daily vaccination drives in shopping malls, working areas, schools, and private and government offices.
Still, Quezon registered the lowest COVID-19 vaccination records in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
The IPHO data showed that as of Wednesday, out of 2,184,623 total doses of vaccines that were administered, only 202,022 qualified residents had booster shots and additional doses.
The number of fully vaccinated individuals only covers 76.5 percent of the target population, the IPHO said.
In a post on its Facebook page on Tuesday, the IPHO announced that their mobile vaccination teams will play the role of Santa Claus to ensure a safe celebration of the Yuletide season.
It asked the public to just scan the QR code on its Facebook page, notify them through their mobile phone number, and talk to the contact person for the details.
Quezon has recorded 35,264 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began, with 33,609 recoveries and 1,606 deaths.
Lucena City is under alert level 1, the most lenient in a five-tier alert status, until Nov. 30, while the rest of the province will remain under alert level 2.
