Tesda: Beware of text message scams offering skills training

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) has warned the public against the unauthorized use of the agency’s name to solicit money for fraudulent programs and services.

MANILA, Philippines — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) has warned the public against people who have been tricking people into sending them money in exchange for skills training that does not exist.

“Tesda learned that unscrupulous individuals using a certain mobile number were able to convince an unsuspecting member of the public to send P25,000 to a GCash account in exchange for Tesda skills training,” the agency said in a statement on Tuesday.

The agency has already reported the fraudulent transaction to the National Bureau of Investigation, the National Telecommunications Commission, and the National Privacy Commission for investigation and proper sanctions.
