ORMOC CITY — A woman is facing criminal complaints after she was arrested by policemen in Barangay Canhumawid in Gandara town, Samar last Saturday, November 19, for allegedly using the logo of the Philippine National Police to dupe people.
Analiza Austria, 37, and a resident of Barangay Oyandic, Motiong town, Samar is currently under police custody on accusations of violating Article 179 of Presidential Decree 38 or the illegal use of insignia, and Article 170 of the Revised Penal Code for falsification of public documents.
Major Rio Tan, chief of the Gandara Police Station, said they received information that a group was recruiting members for the Alpha Omega World Development Marshall Program.
The group requires a processing fee in the amount of P300 using the logos of the different state departments, including the Philippine National Police.
Tan said Austria failed to show proof that he has the authority to use the logo of the police organization.
A Certificate of Incorporation from the Security and Exchange Commission also proved that the Alpha Omega World Development Marshall Programmed Inc. was already revoked by the commission.
