“When there is light there’s hope. So that’s what we are trying to emphasize. The dark days are over, especially [since] we suffered a lot due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mayor Carlwyn Baldo said in a phone interview Sunday.

The lights were first switched on 2018. But since then they had not been used again, when Baldo was replaced by Victor Perete as mayor.

The municipal government spent P2 million on the project, which includes Christmas decorations and more lights at the town hall and the park.
