MANILA, Philippines — A roll-on-roll-off (Ro-Ro) passenger ferry collided with a motorbanca on its way to the Batangas Port on Sunday morning, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.
The PCG said the M/V Stella Del Mar operated by Starlite Ferries Inc. collided with the motorbanca approximately 500 meters from the shoreline of Barangay (village) Pagkilatan in Batangas City before noon.
“On or about 1100H on the same date, the MV Starlite Delmar departed from Calapan port and, en route to Batangas port, unintentionally collided with an unknown [motorbanca] approximately 500 meters from the shoreline of Brgy. Pagkilatan, Batangas City,” the PCG said in an initial report.
The PCG said the three passengers of the motorbanca were rescued.
