House inquiry eyed into long queues at airport

A House committee plans to conduct a probe of the reported queues of arriving passengers at the country’s airports despite the implementation of the eArrival card.

House transportation panel chair Rep. Romeo Acop pressed the Manila International Airport Authority (Miaa) and the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) to immediately address the reason behind the long lines.

Acop said the implementation of the eArrival card—which replaced the One Health Pass—should have made the arrival of returning Filipinos and overseas Filipino workers easier, and “not more difficult and miserable.”

“The Miaa and [BOQ] should comprehensively review its implementation and resolve the problems. Otherwise, we will be forced to conduct a probe on this,” he said. —Julie M. Aurelio
