PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan—Heavy rains due to a low-pressure area (LPA)  and Intertropical Convergence Zone triggered floods in this city on Friday (Nov. 18), submerging some major thoroughfares.

According to local officials, the South National Highway was not passable to light vehicles on Friday afternoon due to knee-deep floodwater.

Also impassable was a section of KM. 44 in Sitio (sub-village) Tagbarungis in Barangay Inagawan-sub.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, the LPA that exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday afternoon has reentered PAR.

The LPA was last spotted 255 kilometers east of General Santos City. It will bring moderate to heavy rains in parts of Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan.
