Pepito, Lambayan secure Milo Junior Tennis Cup crowns
NONITO JOHN Pepito and Francis Gener Lambayan thrashed their opponents to bring home the title in their respective divisions in yesterday’s Visayas leg of the Milo Junior Tennis Cup at the Cebu International Tennis Centre Inc. (CITCI) in Laray Consolacion.
Pepito survived a tiebreaker in the first set and closed out the second set with ease to grab the unisex 10-under title over Vince Lominoque, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1.
Lambayan, on the other hand, brought home the boys 12-under title with a 6-2, 6-4 demolition of Rey Dante Toledo.
The boys 14-under title will be contested by Jan Godfrey Seno and San Beda’s Elijah Arevalo.
Seno arranged a finals battle against Arevalo with a 6-1, 6-1 dismissal of Manuel Francis Navales. Arevalo, on the other hand, advanced to the final round when fellow San Beda player Andre Rodriguez retired on the second set after he sprained his ankle.
Arevalo lost the first set, 4-6, while Rodriguez was leading in the second set at 5-3 when the unfortunate incident happened.
Article continues after this advertisementSeno has a chance to pocket two titles as he also advanced to the semifinals in the boys under-16 after prevailing in a super tiebreaker against Whismark Basanal, 3-6, 6-0, 12-10.

The winner between them will face Pocholo Macalino for the title.
Macalino clinched a finals ticket with a 6-0, 6-1 whipping of Jarryd Laurel.
The boys 18-under title will see Fritz Satera going up against Marc Norman Enriquez.
Satera showed Ralph Juliane the exit door, 6-2, 6-3, for his finals entry while Enriquez stopped Macalino via a tiebreaker, 6-3, 7-6, 10-8.
In the distaff side, the fight for the 18-under title will have a familiar cast in Sally Mae Siso and Hannah Grace Espinosa.
Siso defeated Cristine Bellita in straight sets in their semifinals match while Espinosa also had an easy win over Edel Donaire, 6-2, 6-0./CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
