Adgers erases USC-RDAK’s twice-to-beat edge
THE UNIVERSITY of San Carlos-RDAK bungled their chance to secure the title outright as they got outhustled and outplayed by the hungrier Adgers Sportswear, 69-67, in the championship round in the 19-under division of the 2012 ThreeSixty Pharmacy Cup yesterday at the City Sports Club.
The win by Adgers nullified USC’s twice-to-beat advantage, which sets the stage for the winner-take-all game today at 10 a.m. at the same venue.
Allen Dimco, Lugie Cuyos and Mark Kong each had 16 points to lead Adgers.
Jasper Diaz paced USC-RDAK with 17 markers while Anthony Romaguerra notched 14.
Adgers, a team composed of players from Cebu Institute of Technology-University, Don Bosco and Cebu Eastern College, set the tone early on as they led, 14-13, after the first and 26-24, at halftime.
They tried to break away in the third period after posting a 46-37 lead but settled for a 50-47 lead heading to the final canto./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
