MANILA, Philippines – Parts of the country are experiencing cloudy skies and rain on Wednesday due to the shear line, as well as the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), said state meteorologists.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the shear line is affecting Aurora, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and the northern portion of Quezon.
Meanwhile, Pagasa said the ITCZ is triggering cloudy skies and rain in Caraga, Davao Region, and Soccskargen.
“Sa kasalukuyan, dalawang weather system ang nakakaapekto sa bansa. Itong ITCZ o intertropical convergence zone ay naapektuhan pa rin ang malaking bahagi ng Mindanao. Samantalang itong shear line ay naapektuhan itong silangang bahagi ng Luzon,” said Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio.
(At present, there are two weather systems affecting our country. The ITCZ or intertropical convergence zone is affecting a large part of Mindanao. Meanwhile, the shear line is affecting the southern portion of Luzon).
Metro Manila and the rest of the country is forecast to experience partly cloudy skies with chances of isolated rain and thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms or the ITCZ, said Pagasa.
Pagasa warned areas affected by heavy rains of possible landslides or flash floods.
