MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has reminded its district heads to remind their employees of the anti-fixing policy, following reports of the proliferation of the illegal practice within the agency’s offices.

LTO National Capital Region (NCR)-West Director Roque Verzosa III made this call through a memorandum on November 8, where he told its district heads to ensure that the department’s employees remain educated on the anti-fixing policy.

“Please be reminded on our policy on anti-fixing and other corrupt activities as enshrined in RA 9485 (“Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007”), as amended by RA 11032 (“Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018″),” the Memorandum read.

“District heads are likewise directed to do routine inspections of their offices and its vicinities to ensure compliance with the said policy and to submit a report on the compliance of the policy every first Monday of the month,” it added.

Verzosa in the memorandum then bared that inspections shall now be conducted by the regional office.

“Any person found to be involved in any kind of fixing activity shall be charged with the appropriate administrative and/or criminal actions,” Verzosa said.

He then warned the public in a press statement not to work with fixers.

“We encourage the public not to engage in such kinds of illegal activity, as dealing with fixers will only get you into trouble,” Verzosa said.

“There are many disadvantages if one deals with fixers,” he said.
