4 dead, 4 hurt in Batangas road crashes

Two motorcycle riders died on Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 12 and 13) in separate road accidents in Batangas province, police reports said.

LUCENA CITY — Four motorists died, and four others were injured in two road accidents on Sunday, Nov. 13, in Batangas province.

The Batangas police reported Monday that a van driven by Elmer Malabanan hit around 6:30 a.m. the rear portion of a truck driven by Renato Atienza along the national road in Barangay Tulo in Taal town.

Malabanan and his five passengers suffered injuries and were rushed to the Taal Polymedic Hospital and Batangas Provincial Hospital.

Malabanan and one of his passengers, Abelina Malabanan, 68, were declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

In Nasugbu town, two unidentified motorcycle riders died around 10:30 p.m.after their vehicle collided with an oncoming truck driven by Mario Manguiat along the national road in Barangay Bilaran.

One rider was thrown off the vehicle and landed on the pavement, while the other was dragged by the sliding motorcycle a few meters away.

Both died on the spot from grave injuries.

The police are conducting further investigation. INQ
