Rainy Wednesday in parts of PH due to ITCZ, shear line and easterlies

MANILA, Philippines – It will be a rainy Wednesday in parts of the Philippines due to the effects of three weather disturbances, namely the shear line, easterlies, and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), said state meteorologists.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa) latest weather bulletin, the ITCZ is triggering rain in Mindanao, Caraga, Davao Region and Soccsksargen.

Meanwhile, the shear line and easterlies are causing cloudy skies and rain in Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, and Camarines provinces, the agency stated.

“Shear line ay nakakaapekto sa silangang bahagi ng Northern Luzon. Ang shear line ay isang boundary line sa pagitan ng malamig na hangin, at mainit na hangin. Sa boundary line ay nabubuo ang mga kaulapan katulad ng thunderstorm.

“Sa Mindanao, na-naapektuhan ang intertropical convergence zone or ITCZ,” said Pagasa weather specialist Aldzcar D. Aurelio.

(The shear line is affecting the eastern portion of Northern Luzon. The shear line is a boundary line between hot and cold winds. In the boundary line, clouds like thunderstorms are formed. Mindanao is affected by the intertropical convergence zone or ITCZ).

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country are forecast to have fair weather, with chances of isolated rain due to localized thunderstorms, said Aurelio.

Areas affected by heavy rain are warned by Pagasa of possible flash floods and landslides.

The temperature ranges Pagasa listed for Wednesday are as follows:
