MANILA, Philippines — Only 694 new infections of COVID-19 were registered on Tuesday, bringing down the number of active cases to 16,034, said the Department of Health (DOH).
With this, the country’s COVID-19 caseload is now at 4,011,625 nationwide, with 3,931,293 recoveries and 64,298 deaths.
These new infections are more than half lower than the cases recorded on Monday, which was at 1,553 and lower than the average daily infections recorded from Oct. 31 to Nov. 6 at 907.
This number, however, reflects the number of tests conducted on Sunday, which was only 9,048.
The tracker also showed that Metro Manila continues to lead the list of regions with the most cases in the past two weeks with 2,982 cases, followed by Calabarzon at second with 1,855 infections, and Western Visayas with 1,310.
In terms of individual areas with the most cases, Davao del Sur now leads with 707 infections, followed by Quezon City with 704 and Cavite 646.
Meanwhile, 14,805 tests were conducted on Monday. It will reflect the number of cases recorded on Wednesday.
The DOH earlier warned that virus transmission is likely to increase, especially after the observance of “Undas” and the upcoming Christmas holidays.
