LUCENA CITY — A barangay tanod (village watchman) in Sariaya town in Quezon province died on Saturday after he reportedly shot himself by accident.
In a report Monday, Sariaya police said Enrique Gollene of Barangay Talaan Pantoc was on the terrace of his house around 7:30 a.m. and cleaning his caliber .45 pistol when the gun accidentally fired, hitting him on his chest.
Gollene died on the spot, as witnessed by his wife, the police said.
Investigators found no signs of foul play behind the death of Gollene.
The report did not state if the firearm is registered in Gollene’s name or the barangay’s. INQ
