LIGAO CITY — As COVID-19 restrictions continue to relax with the return of in-person and crowd-drawing events, the Department of Tourism (DOT) in Bicol launched the first Fiesta Bicolandia Travel and Trade Fair, a three-day event in Legazpi City in Albay province.
With a theme “Bicol Tourism: Back on Track,” the event started on Friday, Nov. 4, and will end on Sunday, Nov. 6. It will feature the “best of Bicol region,” highlighting the destination showcase, tourism product/packages sales and promotion, food and Bicol culinary, craft demonstration and the Bicol regional tourism summit.
The renowned festivals of Magayon in Albay, Abaca in Catanduanes, Bantayog in Camarines Norte, Kaogma in Camarines Sur, Pamayahasan in Masbate, and Kasanggahan in Sorsogon province will be exhibited in the form of street dancing from Vel-Amor subdivision to Rizal street to Ayala Malls on Sunday.
“The event is one way of promoting again its tourism activities and stimulate travel movement as to stir the economic activity in the entire region after two years of COVID-19 pandemic,” Herbie Aguas, DOT Bicol chief, told Inquirer in a chat message Saturday, Nov. 5.
