MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Friday said it has distributed more than ₱105-million worth of financial assistance to the victims of Tropical Storm Paeng (international name: Nalgae).
As of Wednesday, the DSWD said it has provided ₱105,646,130.62 worth of cash assistance and relief supplies to Paeng victims.
The DSWD also noted that it has stockpile funds and food and non-food supplies amounting to ₱1.4 billion as of October 30.
As of Friday, the number of reported deaths caused by Paeng is at 154, including 128 injured individuals and 35 others remaining missing, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
Damage to the agriculture sector was pegged at P2.7 billion, while damage to infrastructure was estimated at P2.9 billion, the NDRRMC added.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday placed Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Bicol region, Western Visayas, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao under a state of calamity.—Trisha Manalaysay, trainee
