CIDG nabs gun-for-hire, saves target in Antipolo City
LUCENA CITY — Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) operatives arrested an alleged hired killer and saved the life of the assassination target in Antipolo City, Rizal province, on Thursday, November 3.
In a report, the CIDG-4A on Friday said a team of their operatives, led by Maj. Leopoldo Cajipe Jr., was in the vicinity of Sitio (sub-village) Padilla in Barangay San Isidro at 9:10 a.m. when they heard gunshots.
The detectives proceeded to the origin of the gunshots and caught Richard Lumbab, who was allegedly about to finish off his target, lying unconscious on the ground from a bullet wound.
The gunman surrendered to the authorities, and the CIDG agents rushed the victim to the hospital.
The suspect yielded a loaded caliber 38 revolver, and authorities recovered spent shells at the crime scene. The suspect was also found carrying 36 more bullets and two knives.
Article continues after this advertisementInvestigators found out the suspect was allegedly hired to kill the victim for P7,000. However, the report did not state the reason behind the kill order.
Article continues after this advertisementAn initial investigation showed that the victim managed to run into an alley, where the suspect repeatedly shot him until the responding CIDG operatives saved him.
