Man nabbed in foiled attempt to sneak in drugs into jail

MANILA, Philippines – A man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to sneak illegal drugs into Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City, said the police.

The Southern Police District (SPD), in a news release on Friday, said Jeremiah Buenaventura, 24, was nabbed Thursday afternoon after a jail officer discovered four sachets of crystal meth or shabu worth over P162,000, which were placed on the former’s shoe soles during a “paabot” (hand-in) activity.

Also confiscated from the suspect were a pair of rubber shoes and a shoe box.

Formal complaints for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against Buenaventura, while the seized items were turned over to the SPD Forensic Unit for further examination.
