3,166 families displaced in Negros Occidental gunbattles get cash aid
BACOLOD CITY — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) began distributing Thursday a cash assistance to 3,166 families of Barangay Carabalan in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.
Gunbattles between government and rebel forces caused residents of Carabalan to evacuate for almost two weeks in October, which disrupted their livelihood.
Himamaylan Mayor Roger Tongson said each family received P3,000.
The DSWD distributed the cash on Nov. 3 to 1,927 recipients at the Carabalan covered court.
The distribution to 1,239 more recipients continued on Friday, Nov. 4.
